What is Golf?
Golf is a game that has been played several hundred years now. It can be enjoyable, frustrating, and exciting all at the same time. Most beginners will appreciate learning new ways to enhance their play.
The game starts by teeing off, hitting the ball down the fairway. Then one attempts to hit the green and then put the ball into the cup. Courses vary from 9 holes to' holes. Some are easily walked, while others are so long they demand the use of a golf cart.
The game's goal is to put the ball into the hole with the least amount of strokes. Consequently, the person who hits the ball the least during play, wins. Many rules must be observed. Getting good at golf includes learning the rules. One must be aware of the proper etiquette too.
Golf started in Scotland. Records show the fist golf game was played in the eighteen hundreds. Two names associated with the first golf games are "Kolven" and "Chole. By the eighteen hundreds, golf had spread all over the world. It has become well known and used in many schools, organizations, and clubs all over the country as a great sporting event. Anyone can play this game and have fun learning and trying at the same time.
Due to Tiger's influence on the game, many more people are becoming interested in golf. Its relaxing to play. The rest of the world disappears when you play golf. In essence, you are in your own little world and nothing else matters.
Many young people play now. Schools offer golf as a sport and kids usually can get a letter jacket also. When kids pick up the game as a teenager, they usually play for life. However, for a teenager used to the buzz of fast-paced electronic games, the pace of golf can sometimes be slow. But it can help develop patience.
Executives play golf too. Many times they use the time out of the office on the greens to make business contacts or make deals. Sometimes busy executives use time on the golf course to serve double duty, recreation and communication with business associates. Some executives even conduct business exclusively on the course.
Golf is a many faceted game that people of all ages can play and enjoy. Families, friends, and business associates can get in on the fun. As you learn, putting together the proper accessories for you game can become an involving hobby also.
